She has dark curly hair, which is always getting in the way; she has a good figure and is about 5 foot 7; she has blue eyes. She seldom wears make up. She has been told that she looks younger than her years.

She is very proud of her Scottish background, and her accent becomes quite noticeable when excited or annoyed.

She started teaching in Primary schools, then moved to mixed secondary schools. Her last post was in an all girls school in the English Midlands.

She has taught many subjects at primary level, but has limited herself to English language and literature and geography, while teaching the older age groups.

She strongly believes that education is not simply a matter of providing  pupils with information, but, rather, of encouraging them to find it out for themselves.

Her discipline is fair, yet firm; and she will have no hesitation in chastising a naughty girl.

She lately married Mr Ian Couzens, and is now known as Mrs Mary Dunbar-Couzens
